Find out what sustainable initiatives we have put in place this season

Have you heard of the circular economy? In the Balearic Islands it has become a key concept in the strategies and planning of the tourism sector.

 

From May 2023, all establishments on the Islands must have a Circularity Plan in order to comply with Law 3/2022 of 15 June, which approves urgent measures for the sustainability and circularity of tourism.

Circularity seeks to optimise the use of resources and minimise waste by reusing, recycling and regenerating products and materials. This approach is based on a continuous cycle in which materials and products are kept in use for as long as possible.

We would like to introduce you to three circular initiatives that are already in full swing this season 2023:

  1. Reusable cups in the Marés and Kikoland bar: By using reusable cups instead of disposable cardboard cups, we significantly reduce the amount of waste generated by the hotel. During 2022 (transition year between the two types of cups), 12,776 kilos of paper and cardboard were collected at the hotel. In 2023 we expect to drastically reduce this figure by eliminating the waste generated by the single-use cups.
  2. Water fountain in the main pool: Linked to the previous initiative, we have set up a water fountain in the main pool. In this way, we reduce the consumption of single-use plastic water bottles and make it easier for families to refill their own aluminium bottles. This year, we have launched the Kiko aluminium bottle, so that you always have fresh water at hand on the beach and in the pool.
  3. Drawer for the reuse of toys and beach articles next to the children's pool: In winter 2022-2023 we were presented with the Plastic Free Menorca initiative which aims to reuse beach articles in order to reduce plastic pollution in Menorca. We immediately saw it as an excellent opportunity to make a request that you have been asking us for some seasons now a reality. To have a collection and delivery point for toys and beach items, so that the useful life of all these items would be extended in time, beyond the stay of a few days that a family can enjoy.

The signer guarantees the veracity of data provided and undertakes the need to communicate any changes that may occur in them.

The Provider, in the corresponding boxes of the contact form, informs the User of these obligations, indicating what data is necessary. By indicating and entering the data, the User grants unambiguous consent to PROMOTURIST S.A.U, to proceed with the processing of said data provided for the purposes previously mentioned.

In accordance with the regulations in force regarding the protection of personal data, the Provider is complying with all the provisions of the regulations GDPR and LOPD for the treatment of personal data in their responsibility, markedly with the principles described in Article 5 of the RGPD and to Article 4 of the LOPD, by which they are treated in a lawful, loyal and transparent manner in relation to the interested party and adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are treated.

In case of any change in the data, please inform us in writing as soon as possible, in order to keep your data properly updated.

The data will be kept for a maximum period of one year, after which the data will be deleted guaranteeing a total respect to confidentiality, both in the treatment and in its subsequent destruction. In the event that the User subscribes to the newsletter, we inform you that the information provided will be processed to manage your subscription to the newsletter with update notices and that it will be kept until there is a mutual interest to arrive to the end of the treatment. When it is no longer necessary for that purpose, they will be eliminated with adequate security measures to guarantee the total destruction of the data.
